Photography
I really took an interest in photography on my first field trip to the Isle of Wight back when I was in year 6. I had gotten my very first “camera” (it was one of those tiny spy cameras I won from a fruit juice carton), and I found myself enjoying and capturing the landscape. The “click” from the camera was a beautiful sound that I couldn’t get enough of. Due to financial constraints, I didn’t get my first compact camera until my first school trip to Paris during college, almost 7 years after. Then over the year, I kept on upgrading and upgrading my compact until, in 2008, I finally decided to take photography a little bit more seriously and bought myself my first and current DSLR with the kit lens. The photos from the camera were just stunning, and I was hooked even more. I loved the amount of control it gave and the sharp images were unlike any other I have taken before. Then over time, my collection of accessories and lenses grew to what I have today.
I recently branched off from Digital Photography, to instant cameras. The moment when the photo develops in front of your eyes is very satisfying and the casual and light-hearted approach just makes it a whole new experience. As the company that brought you the Lomo would say, “Don’t think, just shoot” (I know the company has nothing to do with the instant camera, but the motto still conveys the feel).
I consider myself a complete noob in photography and I am still in the process of learning to communicate with my camera. If my images managed to evoke the movement of the seasons, a past memory or a passing feeling, I would be satisfied.
